Overview

The Bonadio Fraud and Forensics Group, a consulting team within the Government Compliance & Labor Division (GCL), is in need of an individual to join their team of consultants. The Fraud and Forensics group is a team of consultants working out of the Rochester office and provides centralized fraud, forensic, and internal control related consulting services to clients throughout the state. This position offers an alternative to the traditional financial statement auditing position, with a focus toward fraud and forensic accounting, internal control analysis, and governmental consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of client’s business and aspects of the client’s industry
  • Develop audit programs and approaches to unique financial circumstances and situations
  • Conduct forensic accounting procedures to investigate and remediate issues identified by clients
  • Develop audit procedures to detect, identify, and quantify fraud
  • Conduct internal control reviews of specific processes or policies to identify internal control gaps or deficiencies. Make recommendations for improvement to remediate.
  • Conduct fraud investigations to detect fraud and quantify fraud, identify the perpetrator, report to management
  • Review financial documents to identify inaccuracies
  • Analyze financial data and trace discrepancies
  • Provide litigation support and present findings to be used in court proceedings
  • Delivers analysis of financial documentation including but not limited to: P/L statements and business & personal bank account statements.
  • Daily client correspondence including recommendations, technical issues and proposals.
  • Delivers projects/engagements on time, within budget and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Retain and develop new clients, including cultivate opportunities to cross-sell the firm’s full range of client services

Qualifications

  • The ability to excel on “un-structured” engagements, in a project based environment.
  • The ability to travel frequently, mostly within New York State. Travel is unpredictable, and often times required with short notice. Historically, majority of travel is within NYS.
  • Strong communication, organizational and client service skills are essential
  • Excellent time management skills, including planning, organizing and prioritizing
  • Basic working knowledge of forensic type audit & fraud procedures
  • Able to work successfully in stressful and contentious situations.
  • Excellent analytical ability

Education/Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in public accounting/audit position
  • BS degree in Accounting or related business major
  • CPA License, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or other designation a Plus, but not required.

 HOURS OF OPERATION:

  • Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Our summer hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Friday.
